Participate in our studies
We are recruiting participants for a study on how people learn and produce new motor skills. Studies involve making arm movements in a virtual reality environment. Sessions will be held at Princeton University, and they will last approximately 1-2 hours. You will be provided with an honorarium for your participation.
To be eligible to participate, you must:
- be 18-85 years old
- have normal/corrected to normal vision
If you are interested, send us an email at [email protected]. Please include your contact information and your general availability so that we can give you a call and discuss more details related to the study. Thanks!
More information about our studies
Studies will be conducted using one of two experimental setups.
1. Tablet. During studies with this setup, we will ask you to hold onto an air hockey paddle while moving your arm. The position of your hand will be tracked by a stylus embedded in the hockey paddle. Vision of your arm will be blocked by a horizontal monitor. The monitor will show you visual feedback related to your movements. We may also play sounds through a computer speaker.
2. Robot. During experiments with this setup, we will ask you to hold onto a robotic arm while you move your arm. Vision of your arm will be blocked by a display. The display will show you visual feedback related to your movements. We may also play sounds through a speaker. The robotic arm will track the position of your hand. It may also apply forces (<4.5 lbs maximum, usually ~2 lbs of force) to influence your movements.
