POSTDOCS
As a scientist, I'm theoretically interested in how learning & memory systems interact and what algorithms in our mind give rise to specific learning effects (e.g., interleaving effect). I specifically study this in motor skill learning (e.g., piano learning) and declarative learning (textbook/word learning). I also study large language…
As a sports fan, motor actions produced by elite athletes always amaze me. As a junior researcher in movement science, I am particularly interested in answering questions regarding how we learn and control daily actions using various motor learning paradigms and modeling approaches. In addition, I specialize in using non-invasive approaches (e…
GRADUATE STUDENTS
I am a 4th year Ph.D. Candidate using psychophysical testing, physics simulations, neural network modeling, and computer vision to study the neural and behavioral characteristics of human motor development; elucidating the cognitive and behavioral mechanisms underlying our ability to learn and maintain novel skills with our dynamic bodies.
I’m interested in how our memory influences motor learning and how we can use computational models to understand these processes better. I hope to apply this knowledge to make learning complex motor skills easier. Outside the lab, I enjoy visiting museums, watching anime, playing Zelda, and relaxing at home.
VISITING GRADUATE STUDENTS
I'm a fifth year graduate student who primarily works with Michael S. Landy, Ph.D. at New York University. My research focuses on sensorimotor confidence and computational models of confidence. I'm thrilled to be collaborating with the IPA lab this summer on a new project investigating the influence of biomechanical priors on sensorimotor…
I am a graduate student working with Prof. Thomas Franke at Universität zu Lübeck in Germany. I conduct research in human-technology interaction and traffic psychology, especially with electric vehicles, to support energy-efficient and human-centered mobility. With IPA Lab, I aim to strengthen the link between my applied research and the…
RESEARCH SPECIALIST
UNDERGRADUATE THESIS STUDENTS
Kojo is an undergraduate student majoring in Neuroscience with certificates in Cognitive Science and African-American Studies. He is excited about the opportunity to work in the IPA Lab and learn about movement strategies. He is also interested in the applications of cognition and movement strategies for cognitive disorders and…
As a psychology major and visual arts minor, I would love to combine aspects of both mediums into my thesis. I plan to run an experiment investigating how different photographic points of view (selfies vs. non-selfies) impact one's emotional recollection of the event at which the photo was taken.
As a rising senior majoring in Neuroscience and on the pre-medical track, my academic interests have been deeply rooted in understanding neurological disorders such as apraxia of speech and various movement disorders. I am also exploring the option of pursuing a MD/Ph.D. degree to simultaneously pursue my interests in both medicine and research…
My name is Nicole Dunn, Class of 2026 at Princeton University, majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience and part of the Princeton Women's OpenWeight Rowing Team.
My name is Chase Filkins, I served in the 82nd Airborne Division and am currently a junior majoring in Psychology with minors in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science. I am from the northwest suburbs of Chicago and curious about the complex psychology behind competitive professional sports. I'm most interested in the mental and…
As a psychology major, my research focuses on how digital self-representations, specifically avatars, influence long-term psychological factors including self-esteem, social anxiety, and body image. In my thesis, I plan to explore how long-term use of avatars can positively impact psychological well-being. My goal is to contribute to our larger…
I'm a Psychology major in the class of 2026 interested in studying how people interact with, and learn to use, everyday objects and products. I'm involved in Princeton Christian Fellowship, and I sing Bass 1 in the Princeton University Glee Club. A fun fact: my family in PA has 25-or-so chickens as pets!
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
I am a first-year interested in both computational psychology and computational neuroscience as tools to develop models for motor learning. Specifically, I have a growing interest in the relationship between error-based learning in the cerebellum and strategy formation in novel tasks. In my free time, I love writing, rhythm games, and board…
Hi! My name is Will, and I'm from Evanston, IL. I'm a psychology major on the premedical track, with specific interests in health psychology and motor learning research. I spend a lot of my time playing soccer, drawing, or just hanging out with friends. Quick fun fact: I'm a middle child!
