Research opportunities for Post-docs

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher or more senior researcher to begin approximately October 15, 2023. The goal of this project is to study the representation and organization of skill in musical performance. Specifically, we aim to determine how the brain simultaneously organizes novel finger coordination patterns (i.e., chords), sequences (i.e., melodies), and maintains multiple levels of skill representations to be able to play note-for-note while also being able to improvise. Insight into the neuroanatomical substrates of this representation will be gained through behavioral studies and neuroimaging. The applicant should have a strong background in multivariate analysis methods for fMRI, such as representational similarity analysis, as well as research experience in music cognition. Research opportunities for Princeton undergraduates

Undergraduates in the lab will have the opportuntity to work on their own projects either for their Junior Paper, Senior Thesis, or just to gain research experience. If you haven't had any research experience, then I find it best to get you started briefly on an on-going project just to get your feet wet. After a few weeks of experience, then we'll quickly move onto developing your own project. If you already have research experience, then we can get started on your own project right away. You will have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of research with the goal of conducting your own publishable research. This is an hourly position at Princeton's hourly rate for Princeton undergraduate students. There are also opportunities for summer research.

Research opportunities for non-Princeton undergraduates

If you are currently an undergraduate at another institution in the U.S., there are opportunities for a summer research experience. Please see Princeton Neuroscience Institute's summer internship program for details and eligibility.

If you are currently an undergraduate at an institution outside the U.S., Princeton offers an international student program. See details and eligibility.

Research opportunities for high school students

If you are currently a high school student and are interested in research, then Princeton runs a program. Please check Laboratory Learning Program details and eligibility.
